Welcome.

Our steadfast mission: "Changing the world, and the culture, one mind at a time!"

"IN A TIME OF DECEIT, TELLING THE TRUTH IS A REVOLUTIONARY ACT." — George Orwell

Computer technology and the Internet have changed everyday life for the better. Nobel literature prize winner Jean-Marie Gustave Le Clezio has been credited with saying, "Who knows, if the Internet had existed at the time, perhaps Hitler's criminal plot would not have succeeded — ridicule might have prevented it from ever seeing the light of day."

The goal of this mashup-type website is to lay the philosophical groundwork for self-education in individualism, and become a major grassroots information and education resource by providing easy access to a wide range of self-help and self-sufficiency information (see especially the "links" section) not always quickly found on the web, especially in one convenient place. John's Blog (& Archive)

Fighting against the Grand Globalist's Evil Empire online, and standing against the Vestigial Dinosaur Media's (VDM) Orwellian spin in the Great Culture Wars. Too much fun!

As actor Liam Neeson said in the movie "Michael Collins", "I hate them for making hate necessary." Some folks just think they're smarter than everybody else, a higher form of life than everybody else. So, instead of engaging in good faith discussions about specific ideas, they simply resort to deception, sophistry, unspecificity, undefined terms, manipulation, name calling, ad hominem, demonization and the politics of personal destruction AS A MATTER OF PREFERRED STRATEGY to get their little spoiled-brat control-freak way. Such behavior is anathema to intellectual honesty, an open mind, a kind heart, free inquiry, the freedoms of thought and speech, and the free flow of information. It MUST be eternally warred against if humankind is to entertain a realistic hope of ever reaching its full spiritual and intellectual potential.

Random thoughts

While surfing the web the other evening, I ran across some video of Ann Coulter on the Michael Coren Show. I thought the lively discussion on the freedom of speech — (I am, after all, a free speech absolutist) — was way too cool to not share. The level of civility, even friendliness, and intellectual honesty was quite noticeable and very refreshing compared to the constant drumbeat of Goebbelsian MSM politically correct blather. It is very easy to see why Coulter's bluntness, articulateness, quick wit, good looks and fiesty take-no-prisoners attitude make her the woman so-called "liberals" love to hate most. The video was posted on YouTube in 5 parts. Here they are ("Leftists" eat your hypocritical double-standard little hearts out!):

Miscellaneous grape and vineyard info

Here on John's sustainable 2.5 acre hobby farm, we've decided to put grapes on about 2/3 of an acre. The 62 post holes were drilled this morning in less than an hour for $100. Best $100 you'll ever spend! If you don't believe me, just try digging ONE 12" wide by 30" deep hole in rocky ground with hand tools. I "double-dog" dare ya!

The pictures (click on them for enlargements) are from a California vineyard (Game Ranch), and demonstrate the perfect soil for growing grapes: rocky and well drained. That's pretty much exactly what is on the 2/3 acre grape plot: smooth river rock (aka "pit run") mixed in with sandy, good draining soil. So we set out on our adventure with optimism that our soil is naturally grape-friendly!

NEWSFLASH!!! - Gun rights win again - Samuel Alito writes for 5-4 majority - Chicago gun ban struck down!

in

God bless the U.S. Supreme Court majority in McDonald v. Chicago - 08-1521 (2010), which consisted of Justice Samuel Alito writing for the majority, who was joined by Chief Justice John Roberts and Justices Antonin Scalia, Clarence Thomas, and Anthony Kennedy. The dissenting opinions consisted of Justices John Paul Stevens, Stephen Breyer, Ruth Bader Ginsberg and Sonia Sotomayor - all four apparently opposed to the traditional American concepts of individual freedom and effective self-defense. Stephens wrote his own dissenting opinion and did not join Breyer's. Ginsberg and Sotomayor joined Breyer.

Hey Obama! Remember when, in all your low-class narcissistic Chicago-smart-aleck glory, you tried to intimidate the Supremes at your State-of-the-Union message? Well, it looks like Alito got the last laugh after all, doesn't it? Back at ya smarty pants!

Dorothy Lee Baughman, R.I.P.

One of my aunts, Dorothy Lee Baughman passed on to her eternal reward on June 7, 2010. She was 84.

As I do the necessary maintenance on my own 65-year-old body and diabetic feet, I am daily reminded that our "robes of flesh" get older and deteriorate. It's part of the circle of life. Dorothy lived a full and good life. Dust to dust, ashes to ashes, the Lord giveth and the Lord taketh away, blessed be the name of the Lord. She was part of the very special family of my maternal grandparents, Irvin and Eulalia Baughman. The surviving extended family has countless wonderful memories to cherish.

I can't speak for the entire family, but personally, I take great comfort from the fact that Dorothy was a woman of faith. And she knew that faith is not what you SAY you believe. Faith is what you DO with what you believe.

HelpMeRick.com, the world' best computer self-help website for beginner and intermediate users!

In an earlier blog, I mentioned my friend, Rick Castellini, and his wonderful website. After all this time, I have still not changed my opinion that HelpMeRick.com is the best computer self-help website I have found on the Internet.

Several months ago, Rick had received one million hits on his YouTube channel, casttv. Now he has just celebrated posting his 300th "how to" video. Wow! Congratulations, Rick! Long may you keep up the great work!

Check out Rick's latest blog titled "How I get smart using YouTube." I've been a huge YouTube fan ever since Rick first showed it to me. I, too, use it to find "how to" information and "get smart".

How the "Left's" thinking is haywire

It has been my experience that much of the so-called "Left" takes itself a lot more seriously than most of the so-called "Right". Accordingly, it might be a good idea for the Left to read my criticism of the Right set forth in a separate essay before reading my criticism of the Left. That way, at least they will know I am an "equal opportunity" basher, er critic, and might not erroneously believe I am picking exclusively on the Left due to some twisted capitalistic-greed-based, "fact-challenged" ideology. Not that that would make any difference to personality-disordered race hustlers, political1 correctness hustlers, determined wannabe-clever ad hominem demonizers, and/or Goebbelsian fascistic propagandists, of course.

How the "Right's" thinking is haywire

I absolutely despise such misleading, manipulative and so-unspecific-as-to-be-useless words as "left", "right", "liberal", "conservative", etc, etc, as commonly used in reference to politics, economics and other human behavior.

I used to generally think of the Left as stupid and the Right as corrupt. The accurate truth is a lot more complicated than that. However, because of the constitutional illiteracy and Economics-101-challenged status of the Left, their stupidities are MUCH easier to recognize, criticize, and ridicule than those of the Right. Since the Right's errors, deceptions, and manipulations are much more subtle and difficult to describe and address, and since much of the Left is emotionally incapable of laughing at itself, it seemed logical to write the anti-Right essay before the anti-Left. For any members of the Right who have difficulty accepting constructive criticism, I assure you that the Left "gets theirs" in a separate essay.

Alex Jones' exposé of "Climate-Gate" as an international fraud to promote world gubmint

I thought the following information sufficiently important that it deserves its own blog.

Al Gore has made over $100M peddling fear to the naive and ignorant, all while hypocritically spewing out a gigantic "carbon footprint" himself. But his fear mongering of "global warming" (also marketed as "climate change", "climate crisis", and the ever-moronic "climate justice") has never really worked on me, because I learned in my 7th-grade science class that plants breathe in CO2 and exhale oxygen, while humans breathe in oxygen and exhale CO2, so there is a symbiosis between the plant and animal kingdoms. We need each other to survive. I also understand that the weather, or so-called "climate", has never done anything other than change. Climate/weather is in a constant state of change. That's what it does: change. So where is the common-sense rational basis for uncontrolled "Chicken Little"/"The Asteroid Is Coming" panic and paranoia? I don't get it. Neither do many millions of other people throughout the world. Nor do I understand the cult of the personality where a bunch of disordered lemming-like ignoramuses blindly follow a wannabe-clever charismatic money-grubbing con artist.
