Arlen Specter defection - absolute proof that "politician" = "self-absorbed amoral jerk"

79-year-old scumbag1 Arlen Specter's betrayal of his GOP constituents by defecting to the DEM party is all over the news. See, e.g. "Specter's defection to Democrats roils Republicans", "Democrats: GOP should be more like their party", "Analysis: Specter defection shrinks GOP's reach", and DAVIS: The Specter switch; The incredible shrinking Republican Party.

Naturally, blogs abound on the subject. One of my favorites is Ralph D'Andrea, a "left wing" blogger who wrote "Be Careful What You Wish For". Two other so-called "moderate" bloggers of interest to my point are John Avlon ("Specter's Shocking Defection") and Benjamin Sarlin ("Arlen Specter's Role Model Speaks").

The DEMS pretend the GOP would be more successful if it became more like them. Ralph D'Andrea (who loves likes to use his HTML "strike" command) wrote, "that [Specter's defection] opens the door to big things like healthcare reform" (aka "socialized medicine"), and "Reagan's 'big tent' is getting smaller and smaller, and it's the Republicans themselves who are running their own moderates out of the party. It's pretty hard to win a national election when only 21 percent of Americans self-identify as Republicans." AS IF leftists like D'Andrea, Pelosi and Reid gave a fat rat's ass about the well being of the GOP. Get real, puh-leeze!

Avlon wrote, "But it’s not all due to President Obama’s broad popularity outside the conservative base. It’s due to Sen. Specter’s increasing isolation in the Republican Party. Centrists have been forced to the margins in the Party of Lincoln, even as the party itself has been forced to the margins of American politics. The two dynamics are directly connected. A decade ago, Republican congressmen dotted the party’s historic home of New England. Now there are none. The trend is continuing across the Northeast, exacerbated not only by Bush-era red-state policies that alienated the moderate majority of voters, but by the party’s penchant for pitting conservative primary challengers against centrist incumbents that ended up aiding only the Democrats. Specter offered up a litany of such self-inflicted losses, from Lincoln Chafee to Wayne Gilchrist to Heather Wilson. 'They don’t make any bones about losing elections so long as they purify the party,' he said. 'I don’t understand it…There ought to be an outcry.'"

Sarlin wrote, "For Chafee, it was truly the worst of all worlds. Despite support from establishment Republicans like President George W. Bush, he had to expend major resources on defeating primary opponent Steve Laffey, leaving Chafee weakened in the general election. But the right wing of the party had so destroyed the GOP's national brand that Chafee was defeated despite being highly popular among voters and holding left-of-center on issues ranging from the Iraq war to gay marriage to the environment. Specter only narrowly avoided a similar primary loss to the more-conservative Pat Toomey in 2004, and faced a repeat of the same matchup in 2010. Specter told CNN Tuesday that 'had Linc Chafee been elected in 2006, the Republicans would have controlled the Senate in 2007 and '08, and I would have been chairman of a committee.' According to Chafee, the recent series of right-wing primary campaigns against centrist Republicans is a major source of weakness for the party, especially given that these campaigns often target lawmakers in blue states, where only moderate candidates have a chance in the general election. But even if the more-moderate incumbents survive the challenge, they'll only be weaker against the Democratic candidate later on."

Now, isn't that just precious?! Who do these clowns journalists — (Hey, you're right, Ralph, the strike command is kind of fun!) — think they're fooling?! I always find it laughable interesting when "liberal" DEMS and "moderate" GOPers are spewing the identical talking points. Do they actually believe their fooling anybody? It's hard to understand how such otherwise intelligent people can write with such a high level of self-evident stupidity.

Stupid, how? Here's how: given the currently increasing popularity of the politics of personal demonization, manipulation, and destruction, does anybody with an IQ higher than their finger-and-toe total actually believe that a free market economy, as a societal model/paradigm, is inferior to a model where everybody demonizes everybody else, and everybody competes against everybody else for the political power with which to artificially inflate the monetary "value" of their own labor in the marketplace as related to the labor of everybody else? Hmmmmmmmmm?! Riddle me the answer to that simple question, all you wannabe political geniuses out there! So the carpenters are angry because the doctors are making too much money. The doctors are angry because the bankers and lawyers are ripping them off. The janitors and garbage men are angry because they make less money than either the carpenters or the doctors and lawyers - and yadayadayada ad infinitum.

Are you people out there friggin' crazy? Do you really think that steal-and-redistribute socialism fascism, with everybody competing for the political power to set his own wages high and the "other guy's" wages low (free is even better, but it's called "slavery") is the best and smartest path to the achievement of the human species' full moral, spiritual and intellectual potential? If so, you are stone cold, 24-carat nuts (aka barking mad). You are deluded, reality-challenged! Sound too harsh? Wrong you are — and following are two GLARING reasons why. I call them 1) the "Government Glitch", and 2) the "Producer-Consumer Glitch".

The Government Glitch is an INHERENTLY unworkable and unsustainable social model/paradigm. There is no such REAL thing as "government" anyway. As such bright lights as Jesus of Nazareth, J.R.R. Tolkien, Leo Tolstoy, and countless others have long tried to teach us, "government" is merely the dominant individuals in the inherently evil and inevitably corrupting stupid-human pecking order contest for One-Ring (political2) Power who call themselves "government" so the ignorant, naive, and gullible hoi polloi working classes will trust them to run their lives for them. The reason “government” does not, indeed cannot, work is because when the mind of A is allowed to control the body (physical labor) of B, there is no end to the wants, demands, and expectations of A’s mind. If “in Power,” A’s wants, demands, and expectations are not restricted by the reality-based physical limitations of A’s body to produce all those wants, demands, and expectations for itself. Unrestrained by physical realities, the mind of A inevitably gravitates into madness and tyranny. If not “in Power,” then A’s wants, demands, and expectations are restricted by the reality-based physical limitations of A’s body to produce all those wants, demands, and expectations for itself. This fact is why self-sufficiency is vastly preferable to interdependency as both a virtue and a political theory. It is also the reason why, in the long run, no economy can function unless it is composed of willing buyers and willing sellers in a free market.

The "Producer-Consumer Glitch" is economics-based. The way to identify and define a liar is if he disagrees with this absolute self-evident fact and statement: every single one of us, as an individual, wants to get paid as much as possible for his own labor and products, while simultaneously paying as little as possible (cheap is good, free is better) for the labor and products of “the other guy.” For some reason, we perceive the physical effort (aka “work”) required in the material plane to provide food, clothing and shelter for our robes of flesh (aka “bodies”) as pain to be avoided if possible. Thanks to the suicidally stupid, inherently evil, inevitably corrupting, seemingly never-ending pecking order struggle of the human species, we seem to have the nasty collective habit of complicating, organizing, manipulating, institutionalizing and “culturizing” these three simple, self-evident, empirically observable facts/”glitches” into an unimaginably tangled and huge globalized mass of wars, genocides, famines, deprivation, pain, suffering, sorrow, and general amorphous evil.

None of the pathetic narcissistic jerks (aka "scum1") we euphemistically — nowadays perjoratively — call "politicians2" is remotely smart enough to do a better job of running my life for me than I can run it for myself. Especially when, without exception (most of them will lie on this point), they want to steal my labor as a fringe benefit of deceiving me into letting them run my life for me.

For me, it is political shorthand to think of "liberals" as being stupid and "conservatives" as being corrupt. But that's only in my own mind because the situation is a lot more complicated than that. Liberals' illiteracy and ignorance is economics-based. They are utterly clueless in the area of economics. But they can be even more corrupt and mean-spirited than conservatives when it comes to using demonization, sophistry, language manipulation and the politics of personal destruction to win political and public relations contests. Even when those contests are over issues and subjects they know absolutely NOTHING about. Absolutely amazing. Listening to a modern liberal blather on mindlessly about economics is like listening to the multitude of fact-challenged imbeciles who, knowing NOTHING first hand, will nevertheless vehemently — almost to the point of being willing to resort to fisticuffs — declare their absolute certainty as to whether or not OJ Simpson was guilty.

Before any modern liberal opens his mouth about economics around me, s/he needs to manifest at least some cursory knowledge of brilliant economists such as Ludwig von Mises, Frédéric Bastiat, Friedrich Hayek and Murray Rothbard before I am remotely interested in paying attention to what they are saying.

The conservatives, on the other hand, while pretending to be more courteous and refined than liberals, (at least until the liberals started using wholesale ad hominem and playing the demonization card as a standard political strategy), and while pretending to be strongly in favor of a free marketplace of both products and ideas, actually join the liberals in actively working against reciprocal justice between individuals by doing everything in their power to support and maintain self-evidently corrupt and unconstitutional monetary and taxation systems/schemes.

Thanks in large part to brilliant "conservative" Antonin Scalia, it has been made obvious that willful judges rountinely lie. The best example of "conservative" lying I can think of offhand comes from another brilliant "conservative", Robert Bork. On page 155 of Bork's book, "The Tempting of America", Bork says, "as Professor Henry Monaghan of Columbia University law school notes, 'much of the existing constitutional order is at variance with what we know of the original understanding4'". Then Bork resorts to some wannabe-clever demonization on the same page, "if a judge today were to decide that paper money is unconstitutional, we would think he ought to be accompanied not by a law clerk but by a guardian." In other words, if a judge were to support the documented truth about the history of U.S. monetary law, everybody should consider him to be crazy. I find it interesting that good has always been good, and evil has always been evil from the beginning of time, and yet "government" doesn't hate to resort to torture, murder, and law enforcement lying and sham trials against innocent citizens to enforce its provable documented revisionist-history lies about its blatantly unconstitutional monetary and taxation systems/schemes.

To any person with a decent understanding of what is called the "Austrian School" of economics, "politicians2" (aka pompous, lying, manipulative, self-important, self-serving scumbags1) like Arlen Specter are not only lower than whale leftovers on the bottom of the ocean, but painfully B-O-R-I-N-G.

Pelosi admits waterboard briefing; Accuses CIA of lying to her - "They mislead us all the time" - Washington Times - "Under pressure to explain conflicting stories, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi on Thursday acknowledged for the first time that in 2003 she was told waterboarding and other tough tactics were being used on suspected terrorists and did not object to them, even as she defiantly accused the CIA of lying to her and Congress about the use of such controversial techniques during 2002 briefings." "The CIA, in an unusually curt response, defended its account that showed Mrs. Pelosi was briefed about the use of enhanced interrogation techniques such as waterboarding in a Sept. 4, 2002, meeting." "'It is not the policy of this agency to mislead the United States Congress,' said George Little, a spokesman for the CIA."

This is old news, but I ran across some pdf files of ABC News' interview of former CIA employee John Kiriakou about waterboarding. It is interesting to watch a bunch of morons try to politicize waterboarding, which, without making any policy judgments, OBVIOUSLY IS torture. The issue of whether or not waterboarding is torture is totally separate from the issue of whether or not it is possible for extreme circumstances to exist which would justify torture. Any moron who would like to try to make politically-partisan cutesy-pie arguments (e.g. Sean Hannity) about how waterboarding is not torture is more than welcome to personally undergo waterboarding to get some first hand experience! I think it's important to the public discussion of any issue to cut through all the self-serving partisan spin (both "left" and "right") and discuss actual reality-based facts. Here are the articles: Coming in From the Cold: CIA Spy Calls Waterboarding Necessary But Torture, and Waterboarding, Interrogations: The CIA's $1,000 a Day Specialists. Following is a video talking about how Warren Buffett's manipulative self-serving rhetoric doesn't match up with his actions. On the one hand, Buffett has repeatedly said that derivatives (see also "hedging" and "hedge funds") are financial weapons of mass destruction. On the other hand, as far as his "buy and hold" strategies are concerned, Buffett is one of the world's largest holders of derivatives, plus he has manifested an allegiance to bank stocks which have plummeted.

NYT obtains green strategy memo: Stop use of term 'global warming'! - New York Times - "EcoAmerica has been conducting research for the last several years to find new ways to frame environmental issues and so build public support for climate change legislation and other initiatives. A summary of the group’s latest findings and recommendations was accidentally sent by e-mail to a number of news organizations by someone who sat in this week on a briefing intended for government officials and environmental leaders . . . Robert J. Brulle of Drexel University, an expert on environmental communications, said ecoAmerica’s campaign was a mirror image of what industry and political conservatives were doing. 'The form is the same; the message is just flipped,' he said. 'You want to sell toothpaste, we’ll sell it. You want to sell global warming, we’ll sell that. It’s the use of advertising techniques to manipulate public opinion.'
He said the approach was cynical and, worse, ineffective. 'The right uses it, the left uses it (emphasis added), but it doesn’t engage people in a face-to-face manner,' he said, 'and that’s the only way to achieve real, lasting social change.'" - There you have it right from the horse's mouth, ladies and gentlemen: the reason so many people despise politics and media and think they're scum1. The Real Culture War Is Over Capitalism - Wall Street Journal - "There is a major cultural schism developing in America. But it's not over abortion, same-sex marriage or home schooling, as important as these issues are. The new divide centers on free enterprise -- the principle at the core of American culture . . . Voices in the media, academia, and the government will dismiss this ethical populism as a fringe movement -- maybe even dangerous extremism. In truth, free markets, limited government, and entrepreneurship are still a majoritarian taste. In March 2009, the Pew Research Center asked people if we are better off 'in a free market economy even though there may be severe ups and downs from time to time.' Fully 70% agreed, versus 20% who disagreed."

McConnell: Specter's Switch A "Threat To The Country" - "Mitch McConnell, leader of a Republican minority that is now even smaller, suggested Tuesday that Sen. Arlen Specter's defection endangered not just the party, but the entire country.
I think the threat to the country presented by this defection really relates to the issue of whether or not in the United States of America our people want the majority to have whatever it wants without restraint, without a check or a balance," McConnell said Tuesday. Obviously, we are not happy that Senator Specter has decided to become a Democrat," McConnell said. "If we are not successful in Minnesota ... Democrats, at least on paper, will have 60 votes. I think the danger of that for the country is that there won't automatically be an ability to restrain the excess that is typically associated with big majorities and single-party rule."

Obama says method was torture, no regrets on memos" - - "Obama also said he was 'absolutely convinced' he had acted correctly in banning waterboarding, an interrogation technique that simulates drowning, and approved making public the Bush administration memos detailing its use as well as other harsh methods used on terrorist suspects. 'Not because there might not have been information that was yielded by these various detainees . . . but because we could have gotten this information in other ways, in ways that were consistent with our values, in ways that were consistent with who we are.'" - Like so many non-thinking people, O got it half right and half wrong. Contrary to "right-wing" language/word manipulators, OBVIOUSLY, waterboarding is torture. Any moron who disagrees should be waterboarded several times a day until s/he sees the light. Semi-conversely, contrary to "left-wing" language/word manipulators, OBVIOUSLY the word "marriage" applies exclusively to a committed relationship between one man and one woman, primarily for the purpose of serving the best interests of any offspring which might result from said committed relationship. I despise both "left-wing" and "right-wing" sophist language/word manipulators equally. They are both double-standard intellectually dishonest scum whose manipulations militate against reciprocal justice between individuals.

1. As I said in the "Welcome" section of this website, (it bears constant repetition): Regarding the words "scum" and "scumbag" as an epithet used in self-defensive demonization against select individuals. Hey, what can I say? It is a long-proven statistical fact that negative political ads work. And since the so-called "left" uses lies, half-truths, demonization and the politics of personal destruction as standard political strategies, failure to engage in a little "turn about is fair play" merely makes it easier for the various assortments of disordered illiterate fascist control freaks to destroy individual freedom. As I said on my blog homepage, "Some folks just think they're smarter than everybody else, a higher form of life than everybody else. So, instead of engaging in good faith discussions about specific ideas, they simply resort to deception, sophistry, unspecificity, undefined terms, manipulation, demonization and the politics of personal destruction AS A MATTER OF PREFERRED STRATEGY to get their little spoiled-brat control-freak way. Such behavior is anathema to intellectual honesty, an open mind, a kind heart, free inquiry, the freedoms of thought and speech, and the free flow of information. It MUST be eternally warred against if humankind is to entertain a realistic hope of ever reaching its full spiritual and intellectual potential." To avoid the violence which is directly related to repression of free speech and the crushing of polite and civil discourse, I believe it is essential to engage in strategic tit-for-tat with wannabe-clever manipulative demonizers by openly calling them what they are: the anti-freedom, anti-Golden-Rule scum of the earth (aka "scumbags"). Accordingly, it doesn't bother me in the least to do so. No less brilliant a person than Jesus of Nazareth himself referred to the scumbags of his day as "hypocrites", "blind guides", "vipers" and "whitewashed sepulchres". To paraphrase Ann Coulter, Jesus was not some moron driving around in a Volvo with a "be nice to people" bumper sticker on it. So, having read The Art of Political War and Other Radical Pursuits by David Horowitz, I don't have any problem with calling "scum" what it is.

2. Always remember, "politics" = person or group A trying to persuade person or group B to obey the will of A, most frequently for the personal financial benefit of A and to the personal financial detriment (higher taxes) of B. That is why deception = the so-called "art" of politics. That is also why "politician" = professional deceiver, and why "political" = deception-based, or having to do with deception. Everybody is competing for political power to steal labor and money out of the "other guy's" pocket and put it in their own. Politicians get votes by promising to be all things to all people. Because that is a physical impossibility, most of their promises of necessity get broken. Because they know this in advance, they are ALL liars to one degree or another. The king is always the most corrupt person in the kingdom. After all, the first two kings of Israel, Saul and David, were murderers. In my opinion, any person who sincerely wants to be the king is criminally insane and an implacable deadly enemy to individual freedom.

3. "The phenomenon called authority is at once more ancient and more fundamental than the phenomenon called state; the natural ascendancy of some men over others is the principle of all human organizations and all human advances." — Bertrand de Jouvenel - And, of course, anti-Golden-Rule fascists, their friends, patrons, colleagues, fellow travelers and apologists have always thought it's OK to justify an economic system of neo-feudalism (aka "groovers" vs. "dogshits"), where "BY LAW" the clever get to steal the labor of the ignorant, gullible and naive! - JRW

4. Monaghan, Stare Decisis and Constitutional Adjudication, 88 Colum. L.
